Jen
I have always loved playing all sports and was proud of the fact that I was good at them and in shape most of my life. I got married and then started having children. After each pregnancy I didn’t lose all the baby weight I had gained. Over time my weight got bigger and bigger. Throughout that time though I was still active and would exercise and play sports. I think the main issue I had was my eating habits. After we had our last and fourth child, I decided a change was necessary! I no longer wanted to be the cute chubby lady with four cute kids. I wanted to be the sexy mother of four in great shape! So in July I started the HMR program. I decided to be 100% committed and to achieve my goal of getting back to my pre-children weight (which happened to be nine years ago).
I started on the Healthy Solutions diet and only eating HMR entrees and shakes with fruits and vegetables. I was in good health that I didn’t need a medically supervised program. I immediately liked the HMR shakes and most of the entrees. Eating HMR food wasn’t difficult. I also liked that we had a weight loss class every week in which we had to be accountable for what we ate and what exercises we did that week. The most motivational thing about each class for me was the weekly weighing in on the scale. I loved being competitive with myself and with other fellow HMR classmates! I wanted to be the “Biggest Loser” of the week each week. I am so competitive that I usually was! Nothing and nobody was going to stop me from reaching my goal! I reached my goal about five months later and 40 pounds lighter! I will always remember the day I decided to pull out my “skinny” bin full of some of my pre-children clothing. I can’t describe the feeling of happiness and proudness I felt as I fit into everything in my “skinny” bin. I gladly modeled each piece of wardrobe to my family. That is when I truly knew that I had did it!
I would tell others that are just starting out to focus on what you are eating, but also to work just as hard at exercising. I have found out about myself that I am a great runner and that I enjoy running. My usual running routine is 6 miles, 3 times a week. I plan on doing that and playing tennis the rest of my life. HMR shakes are now a daily routine as well. I love having a protein shake with spinach and fruit for breakfast, especially after a run. Having HMR products and healthy choices available everyday has helped me and will help me maintain my weight loss and healthy lifestyle. HMR works because of their committed staff, yummy food, and studied programs.
Thank you for helping me become the person I knew I could always be!

Adam was nearing 40 years old and wanted to be fit and healthy. He had grown up playing sports and was the skinny kid. In fact, it took some effort for him to gain muscle and bulk up as an athlete in high school. In his twenties, he was a regular at the gym and liked working out. In his thirties after marriage, graduate school and fatherhood, he spent much less time working out and he noticed his weight started to creep up. He wanted a change and wanted to feel good again. That is when he decided to try the HMR program. Below, Adam answers some questions about his experience with HMR.
How much weight did you lose on HMR?: 45 pounds
What was your favorite part about the HMR program? The results
How long were you on the program? Three months
What did you think of being “in the box” in phase 1? In those three months I was only out of the box for one day. I felt very successful.
What was the hardest part of the program? The first three weeks were the hardest part of the program for me because I was changing my eating habits and I kept wanting to eat junk food. Fortunately, I stuck with it and the shakes and entrees were easy to make. One of my favorite entrees was the Vegetable Beef Stew. I ate that nearly every day.
What was the easiest part of the program? The easiest part of the program was the physical activity requirement of 2000 calories a week. I started going again to the gym every day which made meeting that goal easy. When I am at the gym I like to do a variety of activities like walk, run, lift weights and play racquetball. I feel so much better when I am physically active.
How did you feel losing the weight? I noticed the weight loss first in my face. Then as I continued to lose, I noticed other benefits like my legs stopped hurting and I didn’t feel as sluggish or tired as usual.
What is your advice regarding the HMR program? My best advice for following this program is to stay in the box for best results. For me, the weight came off steadily and I felt better each week. I recommend the program for anyone who wants to lose weight.

Kirk has lost 117 pounds or 28% of his initial body weight since he joined our program in July. Kirk expends on average 3,000 calories through physical activity each week and is always experimenting with new forms of exercise to increase those numbers. He has a unique record keeping system which keeps him on track each week and makes it easy for him to track his progress. We really appreciate Kirk’s enthusiasm and willingness to share ideas and strategies with his classmates each week.

Kathleen has been in our program since September. She has lost 32% of her initial body weight since that time. Kathleen has never missed a week of class and stayed in the box for the first 17 weeks of the program, a feat that only a few previous patients had accomplished. Kathleen walks every day and has seen the benefits to her health and wellbeing. She shared a story of taking piano books up to a friend who lived on the top floor of his apartment building and easily bounding up the stairs, not having to stop halfway or at the door to gain her breath. When she had previously done this she had to stop at the door for a few minutes to regain her breath. We love hearing these positive stories!

Mark has lost 88 pounds or 24% of his initial body weight since starting the program in September. Mark has steadily increased his PA since joining and has some awesome strategies in place to help him achieve higher levels each week. Every time he heats an entrée he takes a lap around his office before he allows himself to eat. We love hearing the different ways patients get physical activity and their meal replacements in.
